One of the significant challenges in the defense industry can be the requirement to use leaded solder paste with RoHS components. The most severe challenge comes when using leaded solder paste and a RoHS BGA. VR Industries has overcome this challenge by developing specific processing and inspection capabilities in response to this unique defense industry requirement.

VR Industries’ manufacturing processes are specifically designed to yield a J-STD-001 Class 3 board, sub-assembly or system every time. From the way we cut our stencils, optically inspect each assembly, hand and wave solder components, to the technicians that inspect the assemblies, each and every step of the process has been developed to meet the rigorous standards of J-STD-001 Class 3. To that end, every person that is involved in the soldering process and inspecting is certified to this standard, and we maintain two J-STD-001 trainers on staff to insure everyone maintains this level of expertise.

The materials management and document control systems are also specifically designed to meet the requirements of the defense industry. Our incoming procedures have a failsafe mechanism which captures the appropriate original manufacturer’s traceability information, before it is ever allowed into the stockroom. Documentation control at VR Industries is equally robust. Every engineering and process document change is traceable back to its originating document and maintained in a secured location. 

As part of our continuous effort to stay in front of issues that can arise, VR Industries maintains an active membership in GIDEP, the Government-Industry Data Exchange Program.
